Maxime's Steakhouse Toronto

King West Toronto

Behind the room you know after dark, off Portland Street, Maxime’s King West terrace opens for the season prime cuts, seafood and cocktails, now in the long golden hours of summer.

A sanctuary just off Portland

Step off Portland Street and the city goes quiet. Fringed umbrellas, trailing greenery, glassware catching the late sun. A corner of downtown that doesn't feel like downtown.

This is the same Maxime's you know after dark lush, theatrical, design-forward loosened for the season. Where the interiors glow deep and decadent, the terrace breathes airy, verdant, made for lingering.

A menu made for long afternoons

Every plate comes off the same kitchen as the dining room nothing pared back for the patio.

Begin with the sea: the Smoking Hot Tower to pick at over the first round, or oysters, tuna tartare and a little burrata and caviar to start smaller. Then the steak: the Australian Wagyu when the table wants to be impressed, the Maxime's Cut when you already know. Petit wagyu burgers to share, the spicy vodka rigatoni, the whole sea bass in olive oil and lemon.

Golden hour to after dark

A lychee martini somewhere in between, poured tableside with the smoke still curling off the glass. Then the Milk & Honey Baklava or the Tsunami Tiramisu, and one more round before the light goes.

Settle in as the light softens, and watch the terrace turn: the greenery deepens, the lighting warms, the DJ comes on at 8:30, and the after dark energy rises to the surface. And on Sundays, the patio opens early for brunch beneath the umbrellas.
